CURB Magazine

Translating a concept into content and visuals

CURB Magazine is a student-run publication that is distributed to 10,000 University of Wisconsin Alumni. The magazine is produced once a year and has a different philosophy each time.

In 2019, our staff picked the theme "Navigate." From there, it was all about finding unique stories and visuals to represent the concet.

As the Art Director, I determined the design vision for the magazine, led production and design of print and online versions, created promotional materials, worked with our photographer to manage images for print and online versions, produce design guidelines and stylebook, and develop the design for apparel and media kit. I worked closely with the editorial team to make important decisions about how to make sure that the magazine represented our philosophy, and with my team of three other designers to make sure that all of our spreads were cohesive. Additionally, I reported on an in-depth feature story and created an interactive ASF and podcast.

This was an incredibly rewarding process that allowed me to improve my reporting and designing skills and learn to be a better teammate.
